Princeton University is recognized as one of the top ranked universities on national and international college ranking lists. It is one of the eight universities of the Ivy League and is one of the nine Colonial Colleges founded before the American Revolution.

- Princeton University is ranked 2nd among national universities by US News 2011.

- Rated 5th best university in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2010-2011.

- The University was included in the April 2010 "Princeton Review's Guide to 286 Green Colleges," which profiles the nation's most environmentally responsible campuses.

- In the QS World University Rankings 2010, Princeton University is ranked No. 10 overall globally and 6th in Arts & Humanities, 7th in Natural Sciences, and 10th in Social Sciences.

- The Sustainable Endowment Institute's "College Sustainability Report Card 2010" gave Princeton high marks in its categories for administration, food and recycling, and student involvement with campus sustainability efforts.

- 21 of the University’s 35 programs evaluated by the NRC were ranked “at or very near the top of their field” (2010). The National Research Council gathered information from 212 universities in the United States.

- Ranked No. 2 on a list of the “100 Best Values in Private Colleges” by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.

- In a national ranking of faculty productivity published in The Chronicle of Higher Education (November 16, 2007 issue), Princeton is ranked first in both "Civil Engineering" and "Environmental Engineering".
