Best Regional Universities in the South 2017

Elon University is ranked No. 1 among the best regional universities in the South in U.S. News 2017 Best Colleges Rankings, followed by Rollins College in 2nd place and The Citadel in 3rd place.

Campbell University is rated as the 30th best regional university in the South in U.S. News 2017 Best Colleges Rankings. The U.S. News also ranked Campbell No. 22 on its list of best regional universities in the South for military veterans. The Best College for Veterans list is based on schools' standing in the U.S. News Best Colleges rankings and their benefits for veterans.

Georgia College is rated as a Top Public Regional University by 2017 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges report. Designated 9th among the top public regional universities, Georgia College is the state’s only university to be ranked in the top 10 of this category.

Western Carolina University (WC) is rated 13th among “top public regional universities” in the South, the university’s same ranking as last year. U.S. News also has WCU tied with two other schools at No. 37 on a list of the “best regional universities” in the South.

Radford University is ranked at No. 16 in the U.S. News listing of the Top Public Schools in the South and at No. 47 on the Report’s Best Regional Universities (South) list, which is comprised of 146 public and private institutions. Additionally, Radford University is rated No. 29 on its Best Colleges for Veterans (Regional Universities-South) ranking.
