The largest colleges and universities in New York (NY) are New York University, University at Buffalo, Touro College, Stony Brook University, among others.

Founded in 1831, New York University is one of the largest private universities in the United States. The School of Continuing and Professional Studies is one of NYU’s largest graduate schools and offers a variety of master’s degrees and graduate certificates in some of the most exciting and versatile industries, that include the Schack Institute of Real Estate, Media Industry Studies and Design, and applied business disciplines.

University at Buffalo (UB) is a flagship institution in the State University of New York system. It is the largest and most comprehensive campus in the 64-campus SUNY system. It is also a member of the Association of American Universities. UB is first in the nation among comprehensive public research universities in terms of percentage of enrollment that is international.

Touro College is America's largest not-for-profit independent institution of higher and professional education under Jewish sponsorship. It was established in 1971 primarily to enrich the Jewish heritage, and to serve the larger American community. The college specializes in many areas such as Liberal Arts, Business, Computers, Health Sciences, Law, Osteopathy and International Studies, as well as more traditional college programs.

Stony Brook University is recognized as one of the nation’s important centers of learning and scholarship. The School of Professional Development (SPD) is the largest provider of professional education certification for school administrators in New York State. Stony Brook is one of only 94 institutions in the country to be designated a "Very High Research University" by the Carnegie Foundation.
