US News Best Colleges Ranking: Princeton 1st and MIT 2nd
According to the 2024 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges ranking, Princeton University is ranked number one among national universities, with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) following closely behind in second place. Harvard University and Stanford University are tied for third place, while Yale University rounds out the top five at number five.
The University of California, Berkeley, has once again been named the top public university in the United States, sharing the honor with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Berkeley's undergraduate programs in psychology, environmental/ environmental health, civil engineering, data analytics/science, and economics are also ranked number one in the U.S. News rankings for 2024. Across the entire University of California system, every undergraduate campus is ranked among the top 100 in the nation, both for public and private universities.
