Henderson State University Profile

Henderson State University is a leading  public liberal arts university located in Arkadelphia, Arkansas (USA). It was founded in 1890 as Arkadelphia Methodist College.

The university has the following Academic Units:
- Graduate School
- Teachers College, Henderson
- Honors College
- School of Business
- Matt Locke Ellis College of Arts and Sciences

Achievements and Rankings:

- Placed in the Tier 3 among the Best Master’s Universities in the South ("America's Best Colleges" 2010 edition of U.S. News & World Report).

- It  is the only Arkansas institution selected for membership in the exclusive Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC).

- Selected as Arkansas's only public university for inclusion in "Colleges of Distinction," which consists of 220 public and private colleges nationwide.

- The music department has produced five Fulbright Scholars, more than any other Arkansas music department.

- . In 2006, U.S. News & World Report of America's Best Colleges ranked no other Arkansas public university in a tier higher than the one in which Henderson was ranked.

Accreditations:

- The university is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools as a bachelor's and master's degree granting institution.

- The teacher education program has been accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

- The Teachers College offers a master of science degree in community counseling and a master of science in education degree in school counseling through the Department of Counselor Education. The programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs.

- The bachelor of science degree in Athletic Training is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.

- The School of Business offers Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree programs. Both degree programs are accredited by AACSB International - the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

- The music department was nationally accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.

- The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
