University of Sussex
- The School of English at Sussex includes Drama Studies and English literature and English Language.
- The Higher Education Funding Council's assessment of teaching quality rated the English department 'excellent' and the department also received 5 out of 5 in the UK government's 2001 Research Assessment Exercise.
Queen Mary, University of London
- The Department of English at Queen Mary is one of the country's leading centres for literary study.
- English at Queen Mary has been rated joint 2nd in the UK in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). Nearly three quarters (70%) of the research activity in the Department was judged to be of "world leading" or "internationally excellent" quality.
