Founded in 1914, Johnson & Wales University (JWU, J&W) is a private co-educational career-oriented university, offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs in business, hospitality, culinary arts, technology and education. It has four distinct campuses in Providence, North Miami, Denver and Charlotte.

JWU is accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges, Inc. (NEASC), through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. It is an institutional member of Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges, and is listed in the Education directory of Colleges & Universities issued by the U.S. Department of Education.

The university offers Global Business Leadership M.B.A. and Hospitality M.B.A. programs with a number of concentrations. Global Business Leadership concentrations include Accounting, Financial Management, International Trade, Marketing, Organizational Leadership. The Hospitality concentrations include Marketing, and Event Leadership.

The College of Business offers Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Creative Advertising, Criminal Justice, Entrepreneurship, Equine Business Management, Food Service Entrepreneurship, Fashion Merchandising & Retail Marketing, Finance, etc.

The School of Education offers the M.Ed. Program in Teaching and Learning, the M.A.T. Program in Teacher Education and the Ed.D. Program. Graduates of the M.A.T. may apply for dual certification in one of the following:

• Business Education & Secondary Special Education
• Food Service Education & Secondary Special Education

The College of Culinary Arts offers two culinary degrees in four years: an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. Within the traditional B.S. degree, students can concentrate in Contemporary Pastry Arts, Baking & Pastry Arts, Beverage Service Management, Culinary Capstone Labs, Sommelier, and Wellness & Sustainability.
