Founded in 1894, Louisiana Tech University (LA Tech) is a selective admissions, comprehensive public university awarding bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.
The University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The College of Education is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education for teacher preparation at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and counselor preparation at the graduate level. The Biomedical Engineering Program is accredited by The Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET). The Department of Professional Aviation is a member of the University Aviation Association and is accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board International. Louisiana Tech Aviation was the first school in the region to be certified to conduct flight training in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under 14 CFR 141.
