QS University Rankings 2012-2013

Massachusetts Institute of Technology is ranked No. 1 in the 2012/13 QS World University Rankings, ahead of University of Cambridge (2nd in the world), and Harvard University (3rd in the world). MIT is also rated as the world's top university in 11 of 28 disciplines ranked by QS, including all five in the "engineering and technology" category: computer science, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.

In Asia, 3 universities made it to the top 30 list: the University of Hong Kong is ranked 1st in Asia and 23rd globally, ahead of National University of Singapore (2nd in Asia and 25th globally), and The University of Tokyo (3rd regionally and 30th globally).

In the Middle East, 26 institutions made the QS World University ranking for 2012-2013. American University of Sharjah is one of only two in the UAE ranked in the top 500. It was ranked in the top 401-450 bracket for 2012-2013, a substantial climb from last year's 601+ bracket.
