US News Best Global Universities 2017
Harvard University was ranked No. 1 in the world according to the 2017 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Global Universities rankings, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2nd place and Stanford University in 3rd place. The rankings, which are based on the evaluation of 1,000 universities in 65 countries, measure global and regional reputation and academic research performance using 12 indicators.
The University of California—Los Angeles (UCLA) was ranked No. 2 among American public universities and No. 10 in the world, according to the U.S. News and World Report 2017 Best Global Universities rankings. In addition, UCLA was ranked highly in several indicators, including global research reputation (No. 8), publications (No. 10) and number of papers that are among the top 1 percent most cited (No. 10).
In total, eight University of California campuses were ranked among the top 100 worldwide: UC Berkeley (No. 4), UC San Diego (No. 15), UC San Francisco (No. 16), UC Santa Barbara (No. 24), UC Santa Cruz (No. 27), UC Davis (No. 42) and UC Irvine (No. 65).
