Top Universities in Iowa

According to the US News & World Report's National Universities Rankings, two Iowa universities are ranked among the Top 100 Tier 1 National Universities in the country, with University of Iowa rated the highest in the state (66th nationally), followed by Iowa State University (89th).

University of Iowa is a major public research university in the USA, and is a member of the American Association of Universities, the Big Ten Conference, and the Committee on Institutional Cooperation. It is rated 66th overall and 26th among best public universities in the nation by US News 2009. It is one of only two public universities in the Midwest listed as "best buys", according to the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2008.

Iowa State is placed 89th in the "Best National Universities" category (consists of 164 public and 98 private), and rated 40th among 164 best national public universities in U.S. News & World Report's 2009 "America's Best Colleges" annual rankings. Iowa State's engineering program is ranked 38th nationally.

Ashford University has been named to the Top 50 Military Friendly List by Military Times Edge Magazine. It offers online degree programs leading to the award of Associate's, Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
